Kenneth Branagh has revealed how his parents instilled in him the importance of not becoming big-headed, despite early evidence of acting talent.

"My parents drummed it into me not to get above myself, though that's the sin I've been accused of throughout my career," the Belfast actor told the Daily Telegraph newspaper.

"I've had plenty of kickings, I will have plenty more - but if you're going through hell, the best thing is to keep going."

Kenneth received critical plaudits for his performance in 'Dunkirk', which was also a summer box office success this year. The Belfast actor has directed and played Poirot in 'Murder on the Orient Express' which opens in November.

The all-star cast includes Daisy Ridley, Tom Bateman, Lucy Boynton, Olivia Colman, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Derek Jacobi, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Johnny Depp.

Branagh is also directing Tom Hiddleston in William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' to raise funds for developing the drama school they both attended, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, more commonly known as RADA. The school plans to build a new library and archive.

Branagh's theatre company got together with RADA for the classic play, which is in the middle of a three-week production at the school's 160-seat Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre in London's Bloomsbury district. The Time Out reviewer awarded five stars.
